60세이상 기초수급자나 차상위계층 노인은 무료로 제공되고, 그 외 60세 이상 노인의 경우 단돈 1,000원만 지불하면 부담 없이 식사를 할 수 있는데요. 코로나 이후 하루 평균 1,500여명이 경로식당을 이용하고 계신다고 하니 어르신들에게는 점심식사하기에는 이보다 더 좋은 식당이 있을까 싶습니다.
특히, 지난달에는 태화로터리 인근(봉월로 157)의 나눔과 섬김의 집 경로식당이 새 단장을 마치고 문을 열었는데요. 기존의 식당은 공간이 협소하고 지하에 위치해 어르신들이 이용하기에 불편이 많았는데 지상 1층에 새롭게 조성해서 어르신들이 이용하기 편한 쾌적한 환경의 식사 공간으로 탈바꿈했습니다.
깔끔하게 조성된 조리공간과 가지런히 놓여 있는 식탁 등 내부공단을 둘러보며 어르신들이 정말 편하게 식사를 하실 수 있겠다는 생각과 함께 추운 겨울 찬물에 손을 넣고 더운 여름 음식 열기에 땀을 뻘뻘 흘리며 따뜻한 식사를 제공하기 위해 애쓰신 자원봉사자 분들이 얼마나 고생하셨을까 하는 생각하는 애잔한 생각이 동시에 들었는데요. 이제는 이런 걱정은 접어두기로 했습니다.
